The white team has claimed victory at the '70th Kohaku Uta Gassen', which took place on December 31. 

With this, the red team has a total of 31 wins and the white team 39. Holding the championship flag, white team host Sakurai Sho commented, "I am simply happy holding this [the flag], but I am just overwhelmed by seeing the best performances by both white and red teams." 

Meanwhile, red team host Ayase Haruka said, "I am disappointed, but my heart is full from hearing the voices of such wonderful artists. What a great way to spend New Year's Eve." 

This year's Kohaku was held with the theme 'Yume wo Utaou' (Sing Dreams) gearing up for the Tokyo Olympic Paralympics to be held in summer of 2020.
